Marawi City. Some officers of Lombay Ka Marawi (LKM) led by its President, Zainoden Bazer, and staff members of IMCC Center for Community Extension and Social Development Services (ICESDev., Inc.) headed by Esmeralda R. Padagas their Executive Director met with Honorable Atty. Anna Tarhata Basman, Member of Parliament of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on November 30, 2021 at the BARMM Satellite Office in Marawi City to discuss important matters regarding livelihood and housing program for the internally displaced people (IDPs) affected by the Marawi siege.
The meeting was held as a result of the request of Lombay Ka Marawi and ICESDev to MP Basman for an exploratory talk to look for possible avenues for LKM, ICESDev and BARMM to collaborate to help alleviate the situation of the Marawi IDPs.
MP Basman, who is a member of the Project Steering Committee of the Marawi Rehabilitation Program (MRP) of the BARMM discussed the various aspects of their program which include financial assistance for IDPs excluded in Kathanor list, micro finance for the IDPs, land acquisition for housing program, construction materials assistance, among others.
Also, among the MRP activity is the profiling of IDPs in which LKM and ICESDev has committed to help the BARMM-MRP.
The possibilities of affording livelihood activities for the IDPs were also discussed. Urban gardening and aqua farming are among the potential projects that the LKM members and ICESDev are proposing to MP Basman through MRP’s Bangsamoro Sagip Kabuhayan Program which is intended to benefit 7,000 families.
“The BARMM-MRP encompasses all BARMM-funded and BARMM-initiated projects and activities for the benefit of the people and localities affected by the Marawi siege”, MP Atty. Basman said.
“The BARMM-MRP is a window of wide opportunities that will help alleviate the Marawi IDPs,” Bazer said. Mr. Bazer and Ms Padagas hailed the BARMM-Marawi Rehabilitation Program and thanked MP Atty. Anna Tarhata Basman and her Executive Assistant, Atty. Sittie Nayilah Abduljaleel for accommodating LKM and ICESDev representatives.
